DESCRIPTION:The Overture Awards Next Pop Star Competition offers a great opportunity to young artists (grades 9-12) that love to sing and dance and focused on non-classical music or dance forms\, such as rap\, hip hop\, country and western\, or folk. Now in its second year\, the Next Pop Star Competition is designed for singers and dancers who perform popular music and dance. It will offer a chance for them to compete with others who share their enjoyment of these art forms. Applications from students who have competed in the 2013 Overture Awards Program will not be accepted. 25 dancers and 25 vocalists will be accepted to compete on a first-come first-served basis. Each performer has no more than four minutes. There is an application that must be filled out\, but no application fee. The application can be found by clicking on the link below. The winner of each category will receive a $300 prize. Three runners-up will each receive $100. The competition will take place on Saturday\, June 1\, 2013 at the Aronoff Center. Students will be assigned a specific audition time but will need to hold their morning or afternoon free since finalists will be asked to perform again before the winner is announced.
