SUMMARY:Café Cultura
DESCRIPTION:What is culture? How does our culture affect our actions and interactions?\n\nCaf Cultura is a space to talk about culture as a community\, to talk about our Cincinnatian Culture. Is there such a thing? This is an invitation to everyone who is interested in exploring their own self\; anyone who wants to grow. We are comfortable sharing with others\, remaining in the realm of questions\, embracing ambiguity\, accepting contradiction\, cultivating debate. We welcome difference as a tonic for life! What represents difference for some might not for others and we are comfortable observing this dynamic. We leave scripts behind. Caf Cultura is a place of void as an option for new spaces.\n\nLike the Hive's Courage to Connect events\, Caf Cultura is a brave space for transformation and building community.\n\nIs it possible that we are responsible for what happens in the world because of attachment to our culture? How does our culture serve us\, others\, and earth? Come and explore your suburban culture\, intellectual culture\, foreign-born culture\, nation-based culture\, immigrant culture\, gender-based culture\, profession-based culture\; your culture as a parent\, single parent\, as an artist\, as a Millennial\, as a Midwesterner\, as a West-sider or East-sider\; if you're willing to sit with others and cultivate dialogue\, come!\n\nWe will share conversation over hot drinks and light snacks (feel free to bring finger foods and treats to share).\n\nWe will begin by bringing awareness to our own assumptions\, ideas\, and emotions\, selective perceptions\, and classifications. If you're interested in taking cultural intelligence to a level beyond knowing facts about other cultures and being able to read cultural cues\, to a level of cultural mindfulness\, come and join us!\n\nFacilitated by Claudia L pez and Troy Bronsink\n\nClaudia Z. L pez is a coach\, facilitator\, and consultant with a strong focus on cross-cultural communication\, diversity of human identity\, change\, and transition. Claudia helps people deconstruct preconceived ideas about themselves and others\, challenge stereotypes\, and go into new situations with confidence and peace. She works in English\, Spanish\, Portuguese and Italian. Claudia brings the wisdom of the Enneagram and mindfulness into her practice\; she is also a Jivamukti Yoga Teacher and loves exploring ways to create vegan versions of dishes from around the world.\n\nTroy Bronsink is Founder/Director of the Hive. He is a spiritual director\, published author\, facilitator\, and minister from the Protestant\, Presbyterian Christian lineage. In both secular and faith-based settings\, Troy's work has been to build contemplative awareness within creatives\, activists\, and entrepreneurs. Troy has presented at Creative Mornings\, 99U\, SXSW\, and TEDx's Innovation Alley and is an active student in the Living School at Albuquerque's Center for Contemplation and Action. He lives with his wife and two kids in Northside
