DESCRIPTION:This holiday season\, the Library is celebrating with a variety of fun\, free events for the whole family. At the center of our tradition is the annual holiday model train from the Cincinnati Northern Model Railroad Club\, which will be on display Dec. 19 20 in the Atrium of the Main Library. The Main Library is located at 800 Vine St.\, downtown. The train display is made possible with the support of Downtown Cincinnati Inc. (DCI).\n\n \n\nThe train\, which customers can operate\, will be open  9 a.m. 6 p.m.\, Saturday\, Dec. 19 and 1 5 p.m.\, Sunday\, Dec. 20. The layout is a 17-by-10 foot "O" gauge with a peninsula in the middle. It will loosely resemble the Cincinnati Northern Railroad (Division of the New York Central Railroad) around Paulding\, Ohio\, in the mid-1950s.\n\n \n\nAlso on display will be the Library's celebrated holiday wreaths and Christmas trees\, complete with handmade\, literary-themed ornaments.  \n\n \n\nThe Library Friends' Shop will have extended hours through Dec. 23 to accommodate the hectic holiday schedule. Downtown employees and residents can receive 25 percent off most purchases during the Work\, Shop\, Save! After-Hours Sale 5:30-8 p.m.\, Tuesday Dec. 8. The event will feature discounts on merchandise\, refreshments\, free gift wrapping and a drawing.\n\n \n\nThere will be several holiday-themed programs at select branches. From holiday card making and cookie decorating at the Pleasant Ridge Branch Library Saturday\, Dec. 12 to decoupage ornament making at the Covedale Branch Library Tuesday\, Dec. 15\, there's something for everyone.
