In partnership with the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center\, YWCA Greater Cincinnati invites you to join us for a special screening of the groundbreaking documentary\, I Am Not Your Negro. \; Drawing from commentary on the assassinations of Medgar Evers\, Malcolm X\, and Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr.\, left behind by famed writer and social critic James Baldwin upon his death\, I Am Not Your Negro is a journey in black history that connects the past of the Civil Rights movement to the present of #BlackLivesMatter.
\n\nAfter the film\, James Baldwin'\;s niece\, Aisha Karefa-Smart\, will host a Community Conversation around the themes of the film. Author of Dining While Black: A Guide to the Art of Modern Dining\, Smart grew up amid literary and political gatherings hosted by her uncle and writers like Toni Morrison\, Maya Angelou\, and Amiri Baraka and is a strong proponent of her uncle'\;s important legacy.
