SUMMARY:The Black Family and Generational Health
DESCRIPTION:This is virtual experience has been curated with the backdrop of the 2021 Black history theme\, "The Black Family: Representation\, Identity\, and Diversity."\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom enslavement to modern day incidents of police violence\, the Black family has been institutionally traumatized for decades. This webinar is curated for youth to have a space to explore how racial trauma affects the Black family unit. Youth in our local communities come together to ask questions with a licensed therapist to learn how to heal and cope through traumatic experiences and extreme social circumstances like the pandemic and social injustice. Youth ranging in different levels of education from high school to university level will raise questions about the stigma of mental counseling. Dr. Thompson is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy\, motivational interviewing\, and a number of mental health issues that present themselves in youth. She holds a degree in psychology from Hampton University\, Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and is a Doctor of Psychology of Adler University. The meaningful conversation will also include several students\, and a community activist.\n\n\nRegistration is required:\n\nhttps://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_oce6MOwySpWFe5op9vh5qA\n\n\n\nDate and Time: Saturday\, February 20\, 2021 | 11:00 am - 12:00 pm\n\n\n\n\nLocation: Online via Zoom\n\n\n\nEvent Type: Panel Discussion\, Online\n\n\n\nCost: Free
