SUMMARY:The Lincoln School Story: Screening & Discussion
DESCRIPTION:The Lincoln School Story: Screening & Discussion\n\n \n\n \n\nThis event is free and open to the public.\n\nRSVPs are requested. To RSVP click here.\n\nProduced by award-winning filmmaker Andrea Torrice\, THE LINCOLN SCHOOL STORY: A Battle for School Integration in Ohio is a 17 minute documentary film which tells the inspiring story of how five mothers and their children fought for school integration in 1954\, in Hillsboro\, Ohio. For two years\, the mothers and children marched every day\, despite segregationist redistricting\, cross burnings and legal threats. Their lawsuit against the school board was the first northern test case of the historic Brown v. Board of Education decision of 1954\, which had declared school segregation illegal.\n\nJoin us for the regional premiere screening and meaningful discussion with the filmmaker\, Andrea Torrice\; the Lincoln School Project Director\, Kati Burwinkel\; and two of the women who were children who marched with their mothers in 1954.\n\nThis program is in partnership with the Highland County Historical Society.
