HCCUSA Statement on Current Immigration Issues
The Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA (HCCUSA) champions the growth and success of all small businesses in our tri-state region.
We deserve a region that embraces newcomers and rewards them for the positive role they play in our economy and our cities. Immigrants start businesses. Immigrants fill critical jobs. Immigrants bring skills and global connections that make our entire region stronger, wealthier and more competitive.
Immigrants are essential to our community; immigrants are who we are.
Today, American businesses are facing serious disruptions stemming from the current approach to federal immigration enforcement. These disruptions threaten economic stability, workforce continuity, and community safety. Especially affected are small, locally owned, and family businesses.
Across states of every political leaning, business owners are sounding the alarm. In cities where enforcement has been heavy-handed, commercial activity has dropped sharply, sales have fallen, and employers are facing sudden workforce shortages. When small businesses are destabilized, entire communities feel the impact.
Small businesses generate 43.5% of U.S. GDP and employ 45.9% of American workers. When small businesses hurt, all Americans hurt.
HCCUSA calls on leaders of both parties to pursue constructive, bipartisan immigration reforms that strengthen economic growth, provide employers with a stable and lawful workforce, enhance public safety, and uphold due process and equal protection under the law. America deserves long-term solutions that reinforce both prosperity and security, not partisan measures that weaken our economic foundation.
