Museum Camps are the cure for the summertime blues
Cincinnati Museum Center Camps on sale for Members Feb. 4, general public Feb. 11
CINCINNATI – Summer is coming and you could spend it guessing the price of jet skis on The Price is Right, or you could use it to become a culinary chemist, storybook engineer or junior paleontologist.
Because when school is out, Camps are in.
Cincinnati Museum Center's Museum Camps are the perfect cure for summertime boredom and brain drain, turning every day into a fun-filled learning adventure. Camps go on sale for CMC Members February 4 at 8:30 a.m. and for non-Members on February 11.
CMC enjoyed another sold-out Museum Camps season last year, welcoming more than 1,300 Campers over the summer. The museum is looking forward to another sold-out season and, with Camps available for grades K-6, there’s a Camp for every interest. See if you can make a sturdy structure for the Three Little Pigs or create a zipline from Rapunzel’s tower in Storybook Science Camp. Become a culinary chemist and discover the science behind your favorite recipes as you cook your way through Junior Chefs or Kitchen Chemistry Camps. Or make a masterpiece every day as you express yourself through paint, clay and pencils in Little Artists Camp. Plus, CMC is taking Camps offsite to the Cincinnati Observatory with Spectacular Solar System, Space Explorers, Technology in Space Camps and more, so there’s bound to be one to fit your interests and your schedule.
Museum Camps aren’t just an escape from the summer doldrums, they’re a critical learning experience that builds on the lessons learned during the school year and push back on the brain drain of summer. Hands-on learning, experiments and museum exploration reenergize students worn out by textbooks and classrooms and excite them to revisit those concepts in the new school year. Plus, Campers connect with old friends, make new ones and fill your home with “I can’t wait to go back to Camp tomorrow!” instead of “I’m bored.”
Each Camp at CMC includes time to explore the museums. Some Camps include OMNIMAX® films. Camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with select four-day Camps due to holidays. The first Camps start the week of June 1 and run through the week of August 3.
