Service, Unity, and Impact: More Than 200 Volunteers Transform Price Hill During Hispanic Volunteer Day 2026

Community Service Event Embodies Hispanic Heritage Month Theme "Unidos, Somos Más"

CINCINNATI, Ohio (October 26, 2026) — More than 200 volunteers came together on October 10 for Hispanic Volunteer Day 2026 (Vivamos Unidos), dedicating a day of service, collaboration, and community engagement that strengthened Cincinnati's Price Hill neighborhood.

Organized by the Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA Foundation (HCCUSA Foundation) as part of Hispanic Heritage Month 2026, the event reflected this year's national theme, "Unidos, Somos Más" (Together, We Are More), which celebrates community strength, shared values, resilience, family, and the collective impact of Hispanic and Latino Americans.

Volunteers from across Greater Cincinnati joined local businesses, nonprofit organizations, students, families, and community leaders to support neighborhood improvement projects throughout Price Hill. Service efforts focused on local schools, including Roberts Academy, Rees E. Price Academy, and Oyler Community Learning Center, as well as community organizations such as Casa de Paz, Santa Maria Community Services, and the Ola Immigrant Welcome Center. Volunteers also completed beautification and improvement projects in parks and public spaces, including Rapid Run Park and other community locations.

The annual event welcomes everyone interested in making a difference, including community groups, individual volunteers, high school and college students, families, corporate teams, and sponsors.

"Our volunteers are the heart of this event," said Luz Elena Schemmel, Executive Director of the HCCUSA Foundation. "Their time, energy, and dedication helped improve spaces that serve children, families, and neighbors throughout Price Hill, creating an impact that will be felt long after this day is over.”

Throughout the morning, volunteers worked side by side to complete projects designed to beautify public spaces, support local institutions, and create a lasting positive impact in the neighborhood. Their efforts demonstrated the power of collective action and the importance of civic engagement in building stronger communities.

"Every project completed today represents an investment in our community's future,” said Alfonso Cornejo, Chair of the HCCUSA Foundation Board of Directors. "We are grateful to the volunteers, partners, and sponsors who helped make this day possible and who continue to demonstrate the power of service to bring people together.”

After the projects were completed, volunteers gathered to share a meal and celebrate their accomplishments. The gathering provided an opportunity to build new friendships, strengthen community connections, and foster understanding, teamwork, and a shared sense of purpose.

"Hispanic Volunteer Day is a powerful reminder that community transformation begins with people who are willing to step up and serve," said Schemmel. "The enthusiasm and commitment shown by our volunteers inspire hope and demonstrate the lasting impact of collective action."

The HCCUSA Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to the volunteers, sponsors, community partners, and supporters whose dedication made this year's event a success and who continue to advance initiatives that strengthen our community through service, collaboration, and civic engagement.

Save the date! We look forward to seeing you at Volunteer Day on October 9, 2028!
