The Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA, celebrates its 30th anniversary!
On March 19, 1996, our history started with a group of Latinos led by James Harney, who saw the need while working and traveling back and forth from Michigan to Cincinnati, and were very involved with the growing Hispanic community in the early nineties, starting to meet with a group of Hispanics to discuss social issues with Latino residents. The group included, but was not limited to, Mora Harney, Rachel Coughlin, Gloria Milord, Anita Euhlin, Santiago Sams, V. Anthony Simms-Howell, Julieta Simms, Father Nelson, and Onnie Martin. Jorge Ramos provided financial support when needed.
In recognition of the numerous meetings held, the establishment of a Hispanic Chamber was proposed as a means of fostering the involvement of Latinos in the business community. On March 19, 1996, the incorporation of the Hispanic Chamber, which subsequently became the Ohio Tri-State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, is now commonly referred to as the Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA.
The Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA, is commemorating its thirtieth anniversary. The Chamber has grown in tandem with the growth of the Hispanic population in the tri-state area. Our mission collaborates closely with for-profit and nonprofit businesses in the region, as well as the local and state Chambers of Commerce and the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The organization’s objectives have evolved to encompass leadership and entrepreneurship development and the promotion of cultural awareness through events, programs, and services. Furthermore, the organization endeavors to recognize the significant contributions of Hispanics/Latinos to the region.
The Chamber serves as a bridge and forum within the national network of Hispanic business associations and firms, actively working to expand business opportunities, foster mutually beneficial relationships between the public and private sectors, and serve as an active and visible advocate within the Hispanic business community.
The Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA, will continue to expand its reach, assisting more Hispanic and Latino-owned businesses in their growth and supporting more community-based partners in their success.
